Many decisions have been taken in this meeting, let's know all in turn, during this meeting, the Finance Minister has announced the GST tax on all life saving medicines and medicines related to Covid-19 on 31 December. Exemption will be given till 2021. It has also been decided that GST tax exemption will be given on all expensive medicines. Like for example zolngelsma and viltepso which cost around Rs 16 crores.

There are other medicines which are exempted from GST. Amphotericin B  (0% GST) Tocilizumab  (0% GST) Remdesivir. ( 5% GST ) Hemrin  ( 5% GST )

The GST rate on seven other drugs recommended by the Department of Pharmaceuticals has been reduced from 12% earlier to 5% by December 31, 2021. The GST rate on cancer related drugs has also been reduced to 5% from 12% earlier.

The GST rate on retro fitment kits for vehicles used by differently abled and disabled people has also been reduced to 5%

petroleum products under the purview of GST:-

Another issue was debated in this council meeting that many states have agreed to bring petroleum products under the purview of GST and many states like Kerala and Maharashtra have opposed it. If brought under the purview of this, it will reduce the revenue of India.

When GST was implemented across the state on July 1, 2017, five petroleum products were kept out of the purview of GST. In which mainly petrol, diesel, jet fuel, natural gas, crude oil are included i.e. on which GST is not levied even today. Excise duty is mainly levied on it by the Central Government and VAT is levied on it by the State Governments. The price of petrol and diesel is different.
